Insider Secret #5: Nutrition and Safety
Some Food Storage Isn’t Nutritious or Safe
Food storage secrets seem to do more harm than good, and this one is no different. Many so called food storage (canned) items are loaded with preservatives, are nutritionally dead, and won’t store for more than a year or two. Using them after they expire can make you expire or make you very ill. Food Safety is very important.
The right food storage can save you money, last for 30 or more years, and increase your health if used properly. It takes a combination of the right packaging methods, storage conditions, and safety.
A good home food storage program will simplify your life, bring you peace of mind, and contain only the items you need and can use everyday. Living food makes a difference. Processed food is not so good.
Besides, if there is a disaster or emergency and you have your food storage, you’ll be ready for that too.
Food storage can be easy and cost effective.
THE WORST INSIDER SECRET
Can you survive on a loaf of bread and a cup of beans everyday for a year? That is essentially what the normal suggestion of food storage equals. And, Yes…you can survive on it, but life won’t be fun.
Just about every food storage and emergency preparedness company out there recommends the the normal basic food storage amounts. Look at the food storage calculators out there. The normal amounts are even included on other pages on this site. It is a great place to start, but a lousy place to finish. Do you like lima beans and powdered fruit drink?
